Biography
Karl Laquit began his musical way by learning the choral singing and the piano.
During his studying year in the M.A.I (Music Academy International) in Nancy, he met Sophie Norton who advised him to join a conservatory of music. Since then, he has been totally dedicating himself to music by joining the CRD Gautier of Epinal (France) and having his Diploma of Musical Studies in the class of singing of Robert Boschiero
After a competition, he met Elena Vassilieva with who he first worked on his voice of French-style “Haute-contre”, particularly the role of “Platée” composed by Rameau, his countertenor voice too, then his tenor voice with roles such as Belmonte in ” Die Entführung aus dem Serail ” of Mozart and the Italian tenor in “Der Rosenkavalier” of Strauss.
Contemporary tenor, sometimes Haute-contre, sometimes countertenor, he possesses a hyper tessiture and dedicated to virtuosity.
An artist acclaimed by critics
Hardened by several international masterclasses and competitions (artistic competition of Epinal (France), artistic competition of the French Musical confederation in Paris), he joined the CNSM of Lyon (France).
In parallel of his study, he started to work with the orchestra of ” Les siècles romantiques ” supervised by Jean-Philippe Dubor who he sang with, for among other productions the “Carmina Burana” by Orff, the “Stabat Mater” by Rossini, or the “Messa di Gloria” by Puccini and Rossini (this one of Rossini, Auvergne Rhone-Alpes creation in January 2018, have been widely welcomed about the virtuosity and the top notes).
With “GerMANIA”, the composer Alexander Raskatov gave the opportunity to Karl Laquit to make his debut at the opera of Lyon. A role was especially written for his voice : the “Pink Giant”. This extremely technical role, with a lot of top notes, provoked a lot of reactions from the medias, using expressions like “inhuman tessiture” or “stratospheric top notes”.
For the upcoming season, Karl will give an unique recital in France in three vocal range at the Salle Moliere in Lyon in January 2023. He will also make his debut at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam in a new worldwide creation “Animal Farm” composed by Alexander Raskatov and based on the novel of the same name by George Orwell.
